The practicum placement is a rich part of the ISIS programme. Students are placed in a clinical setting where they have the opportunity to apply the practices and theory they are learning in classes and weekend intensives. This is the place where students begin to shape themselves as Expressive Arts Therapists. Students are challenged to work collaboratively with other helping professionals on their sites.

Our placements are generally full year (September to May) placements for no less than one day a week. Students will receive clinical supervision on their site.

We place students in a variety of settings, some of which include; special education classes in schools, children and adolescent mental health agencies, day treatment programmes for adults with psychiatric disorders, addiction treatment facilities, homes for the aged, women's shelters, hospices for women dealing with eating disorder issues, and many more.

In the first year of the programme, we find placements for our students and in the second and third year, students are assisted in finding their own placements. In this process students begin to learn about reaching out to the community and marketing themselves as Expressive Arts Therapists.
